Jordyn | A Birth Story

Baby· Birth· Newborn

12 Mar

Not too long ago, I documented Jay and Nikki’s maternity session.  Last weekend, I had the awesome pleasure of welcoming their beautiful little girl into the world with my camera in hand! This was my first ever birth session and I KNOW it won’t be my last. It wasn’t until my friend and fellow photog Carrie of Carrie Workman Photography so beautifully documented the birth of my son that I even thought about photographers being present for this type of event.  I’m the shy type, but when it was all said and done, I knew I wanted her to do this for us so that my husband would be able to absorb all that he could with the birth of our child without having to run around the delivery room snapping pictures for me.  Because I would have wanted him to; you know, since that is just one event you can never re-play.

It was so hard to pick only a few images to share with you.  Jay and Nikki, Jordyn is one lucky little girl to have you guys as parents! Blessings to you, as you embark on the most awesome journey of your lives!

Here is mommy’s first embrace. I’m just so glad these were in focus because I was shedding a few tears of joy myself. tehe.

Loved this.  As I rounded the corner to announce that Jordyn had arrived safe and sound, this is what unfolded.  Here we have Jordyn’s proud grandparents!

While Nikki was still in the delivery room, daddy Jay was summoned to the nursery for Jordyn’s first bath.  While the nurse prepared everything, Jordyn was screaming, but daddy came to the rescue.  And she knew who he was and was comforted.  And again, all of us on the other side of the window were BAWLING.

Jay, you will make an amazing father.  Hands down.  Don’t you worry. 🙂

Three generations.  Love this!  And they all look alike!

Jordyn loves her daddy.

The beautiful Jordyn Kate.

The proud new parents 🙂  Nikki you are beautiful.  You don’t even look like you just had a baby!  No fair.

And here I am… the proud new auntie! 🙂 Yay!

Amen; Amen; and AMEN!

A couple weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to get away for a couple days with my grandma, mama, and two of my aunts! Such a blessing!!! 💜 We perused the beach for shells and at night played the game ‘Taco, Goat, Cat, Cheese, Pizza’ (there were only two games provided in the house 🤣); all of us came away with some type of bruise. 🤣 We also had the Stone family famous shrimp ‘n grits for breakfast one morning! This trip was such a treasure!

These fellas had a heckuva start to their fishing tournament season this past Saturday. 😅 First, their typical boat captain was under the weather, so had to play switch-a-roo on boat *and* captain. Then, about 11am during the tournament the boat they were in broke down, leaving them only the section of the lake they could access with the trolling motor. Thankfully, a fellow team boat captain (and our church pastor!) was able to return his anglers to weigh-in, then make the run across the lake to snatch up these two fellas and get them to the dock in time for weigh-in. SHEW Y’ALL! 😅😵‍💫 They still managed 4 of the 5 fish limit with 10.04 lbs. 🙌

Last weekend we spontaneously took off and made way to Gettysburg, PA! Gus absolutely LOVES history and has been wanting to do this trip for a while. We knew we better fit it in before he’s too much older, and it was one of the only weekends we had open. 🤪 On the way, we stopped in Lexington, VA as well to visit some cemeteries he had researched. We saw the memorial for General Stonewall Jackson and also the museum and mausoleum at Washington and Lee University where General Robert E. Lee and family were laid to rest.

Once we made it to Gettysburg we spent 1.5 days exploring the area. We spent most of our time at the National Military Battlefield and Museum.

On the way home, we also stopped by Antietam Battlefield and Appomattox Court House National Historic Park.

We basically hit the road with only the goals of making it to Lexington and Gettysburg. All the rest fell into place as we drove and researched. 😜😅 We found some AWESOME AirBnB’s doing it that way, though!!! Near Lexington, we found the coolest glamping/tent situation nestled on a 100acre organic farm and animal rescue. And while in Gettysburg, a barn apartment! Both were 5 ⭐️!!!
