Baby Jake’s Birth Story

Baby· Birth· Newborn

21 Feb

Monday, February, 18, 2013, this world was graced by the birth of Baby Jake!  I was so excited when approached about ‘officially’ documenting his birth story!  And I’ll tell that story right now… with pictures! 🙂 Let me preface it with, Annie had to undergo a c-section due to predictions made by her doctor, even though Baby Jake was technically two weeks early! Here they are moment’s before heading into surgery… Copyright Charlotte Ashley Photography Sending the word to everyone in the waiting area that they were headed back… “Here will go” HA Copyright Charlotte Ashley Photography All the excitement sparked the idea to make bets on what time Jake would be born, his weight, and length! I love this family!!! They had me laughing SO much! Copyright Charlotte Ashley PhotographyMy girl and her gift for baby Jake! Anytime we vacation, you can bet fishing and/or hunting will always be interspersed. 🤪 So, it’s a good thing I enjoy just being outdoors, walking creek and river banks, and taking pictures. But there *was* one said adventure where I thought for sure I was going to end up nose-to-nose with a grizzly, mountain lion, or moose. 😅 And it was cold and raining. lol 🫠 But we made the most of it!

We also spent some time playing on one of the nearby lakes. We all even braved the cold water! 🥶🤣

We checked out one of the waterfowl viewing areas and grabbed pizza at our favorite little roadside restaurant where the kiddos love to play pool and Pac-Man. 🤣

Our next Montana adventure was a beautiful hike! Can’t go to Montana without putting in some steps. 😁 And it’s always the best when the hike includes amazing views along the way. It’s no big deal to pass people hiking and everyone has pistols strapped to their chests. Just an observation- which I don’t mind one bit. After all, we were in grizzly/ mountain lion/ moose country. You can see on the wilderness sign that grizzlies have clawed it and bitten chunks out of it. 😅 I learned that the huge rock fields we passed attract grizzlies, where they source a certain type of moth for nutrition. They can be heard at times, flipping boulders in search of those moths.

We also had our little sidekick Pippa along on the adventure, too! We fell in love with that little doggo while there. 🥰 And found an awesome patch of huckleberries rambling around on the national forest. They are SO. GOOD! So very thankful for the Cole family adventuring with us!

We arrived in Montana Aug. 1 and re-connected with our friends, who were so gracious to host us while visiting. (Seriously, so blessed! 🙏) Jason met Seth back in 2005ish through work, when both couples lived in Tennessee, and hit it off instantly. We have remained friends through having families, and moving in different directions, and now our kiddos have been able to grow up knowing each other. Couples friends are hard to find in life and we don’t take that for granted!

The first adventure was a ride on the road up the mountain behind their house. Holy moly what a view, right in their backyard, basically! 😱

Our family is 21 years old today! 8/14/04 Thank you, Lord, for leading us to each other all those years ago as high school students. 🥹💜

We also recently finished a series of videos that I wish we would have had as newlyweds, so I want to share them with you today. So incredibly important as you walk through life in a marriage, because it’s downright HARD at times, but 100% worth it! 🙏

God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light…
If creation still obeys you, so will I!

We’ve been to Montana and back the last 11 days!!! I have saved a highlight if you haven’t been following along in my stories. 💜 We had the most wonderful time as always visiting the best of friends and the wilds of a land that has forever captured our hearts! (For those new around here, we had the pleasure of living in Montana twice now- 2017 and 2019- for 4 months each time.) I have about 3k photos to sort through, between 3 different cameras (😆), so be prepared for a photo dump. We made it home last night at 2am, then dove right back into our first day of school (and homeschool community day) at 8:30am this morning. 😮‍💨The jet lag is real.
