Satilla will be eight this December. Last week she began to yelp a little when she would jump onto the couch or bed, and would limp on her right back leg. We had to put her into the bed that night rather than letting her jump onto it. During the night she– like always– got down to cool off before returning to her space. At 5am, when she jumped back onto the bed, the yelping became serious. So we decided it was time for a vet visit first thing! She is now taking Rimadyl for the advanced stages of hip dysplasia. We’ve had a sneaky suspicion for about a year that she had this, but it is now vet confirmed. :O( We are still unsure that the hip dysplasia is the root of the yelping. We think she hurt something in her knee because when pressure is applied to it, she lets us know she is in pain in that area. The hip, not so much.
As I’m typing tonight, Satilla successfully has reclaimed her chair in the living room and is asleep on her right side. Thank you Jesus. Isn’t it crazy how attached you become to God’s most awesome creature, the dog!! Her daddy is in better spirits as well. Ah the love of a best friend/ hunting dog.
