As of right now we’re just playing the waiting game! I’m anxious all the way around! Anxious about the labor day, anxious to know what we are having, son or daughter, anxious to know what he/ she looks like, what color eyes he/ she will have etc. Jason is anxious as well. And to think that during months 1-8, his only comment about it all remained the same ” I just can’t believe you are pregnant!” Now that I have 10 days left, if that, he’s ready. Haha. I think this waiting around is cutting into his fishing plans too much; he’s too nervous to even fish 30 minutes away or run too far up the river for fear I will surely go into labor while he’s on the water. And he’s even been talking names… woah! Big step there. We’ve settled on Hannah Diane if it’s a girl, and umm, Willard Eugene if it’s a boy. Nah, j/k. We have no clue still what to name it if it’s a boy. We just know that we would like the middle name to be Ted.
Since my last pregnancy post, things haven’t changed much. I’m still feeling great… still able to exercise daily, still sleeping well, no swelling, not miserable at all… yet. Everyone says it will come.
I did venture to the Dayton, TN Strawberry Festival one weekend in May, and discovered that Baby J doesn’t like funnel cakes. About 2 hours after returning home, the funnel cake got the best of me. I’m not yet convinced though that it was anything pregnancy related because I’ve been sick like that many times before being pregnant; greasy stuff has NEVER agreed too well with me and I think that funnel cake had been sitting in the grease pot for a long while to keep it hot. But boy was it yu-mmmmy at the point in time!
I did notice a decrease in baby activity 5 days ago. Normally when I stir in the mornings so does the baby, and I can normally persuade it to kick or move around by mashing around on my tummy, however, not this day. Naturally now I’m scared to death because the doctor makes it a very important point for me to report to him the activity level of the baby every time I visit. I was up at 7:30am, no movement by 9:30am, so I called the doctor. They had me come in immediately for a stress test. Still no movement except for one subtle shift while sitting in the doctor office waiting for them to call me back (~ 10:15am). They strapped the monitors on which notes baby’s heart rate and me for a 20 minute period. The results: I was contracting regularly (yep, didn’t even know!) and the baby was not active enough for them. They like to see an increase in baby’s heart rate 3 times in a 20 minute period and only 1 increase occurred. So they left me strapped in for another 20 minutes and informed me that they were going to buzz the baby. This consisted of sticking a little instrument that vibrates and makes a noise to my tummy trying to stir the baby a bit. After 10 minutes the baby’s activity “looked perfect!” Thank heavens! The doc decided that the constant squeezing from the contractions was tiring he/she out which explains the decrease in activity, and home I went. Things have been normal ever since.
So until next time, a post reporting the arrival I’m sure… here are a few pics of all our cool baby things! The first is the crib hand-crafted by my pa-in-law. He’s such an extremely talented carpenter!
We officially have NO room left in this house!
