They are both from South Carolina, but they met each other while living and working in Tennessee for the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Assocation. It was the cattle industry that brought them together, so therefore, what better way to document their engagement than on their cattle farms?!?! One in Union, SC and one in Newberry, SC! It took a little planning to allow for travel between the two in the same day and still have optimal lighting, but we rocked it out!!! And it was F. U. N! We traipsed around the pastures that are so sentimental to Lena, and the grounds of a neighboring antebellum home! And then we drove over into Newberry Co. and made use of the awesome landscape of Kevin’s family farm.
And WOW… let me just tell you about how small this world is! I used to attend the same church in Union, SC as Lena; however, she was several years younger than me. I then went off to college, graduated, and taught agriculture for a couple of years in Newberry, SC, where I met MANY seasoned teachers who would help me– a first year teacher– endure the hardships that came along with the job. Fast forward about 7 years. Lena is also now an Ag teacher herself over in Iva, SC! 🙂 Annnnnnnd… she’s marrying the son of one of those seasoned teachers that mentored me in Newberry! 🙂
