I had the opportunity to attend an awesome workshop put on by Michael Howard this past weekend in Franklin, TN. So many times I find myself caught in the hustle and bustle of running a photography business *trying* that I seem to forget why I even started it in the first place. It was nice to hear and see in action an artist being true to his art and instilling this in others!
The first day was technical. We actually had two hands-on photo shoots– one using ambient light and reflectors and the other with a single off-camera flash set-up. We even had homework. lol. The second day was not so technical but rather more education I guess you would say. We learned how to critique photos and the four steps involved there. We also took a step back in time to understand the history of photography. Then we were allowed to pick Michael’s brain– Q’s and A’s about how and why he does what he does. My fav.
Here are a few images from the workshop that I managed to capture using high quality materials for printing photos as they are moisture proof and last longer. The first two are of Sulivan Mellencamp (don’t you just love her name!?!?) a model that came to the workshop, and the last two are of my friend and fellow photoggie HMK. She has a new blog so check her out!
To add, here is a little tid-bit of information from the life of a photographer, and yet mom. My attendance was only possible at this workshop if my son went along for the ride. I’m still nursing being that he is 8 mths old, and so, during our lunch breaks I had to jet back to the house to feed him. LOL. So, I cannot end without a HUGE shout-out to my cuz-in-law for letting us crash at her place and my momma for being ‘nanny’ for the weekend!
