Reedy River Falls Historic Park Engagement | Shannon and Brandon

Couples | Engagement

19 Feb

Brandon and Shannon met at Erskine College, fulfilling their presidential duties for the same literary society!  After dating for about a year, Brandon proposed to Shannon at Falls Park in Greenville, SC after a lovely evening dining at High Cotton overlooking the Reedy River.  When an engagement session was spoken of, it was only natural to return to Falls Park and somewhat recreate their enchanted evening!

We spent a chilly afternoon getting to know each other better, and I’m SO excited to photograph their wedding on June 29, 2013 in Sumter, SC!

Let me start the photos off by saying that not only is this tree amazing (!!!!), but Shannon was a TROOPER during this COLD session! I felt bad all bundled up in my scarf and jacket.

These two are just too cute!!!

Here is the spot that Brandon proposed!!! And might I add that Shannon crocheted the blanket in the right picture!!!  That takes major PATIENCE, and talent too of course!  The blanket was a gift to Brandon (the only other gift other than the wooden watches I’d gotten for him); the colors of their literary society!

I love experiencing ‘firsts’ with my child; always have. And that doesn’t stop when they are teenagers. 🥰 February 21, 2026 was Gus’ first reenactment- the Battle of Aiken! You can tell by the black powder on his face, too, as that is the initiation. 😁

He planned for this day for a year. One of his buddies briefly mentioned after the 2025 one that they should look into being involved. Well, that conversation sparked a drive in this boy! Although the friend didn’t go onto being involved, Gus knew he would! So he saved up some money and purchased his gear.

At the last minute, the unit he was originally registered with backed out of attending due to potential bad weather. So that left us scrambling. We told him not to worry and to just pack the vehicle with all his gear and we would just drive on to Aiken and figure it out when we get there. 😅 And by divine intervention, I’m sure of it, he ended up with the most wonderful unit of reenactors that he will continue with now, for years to come. 🙌🙏

PS: he had his heart set on representing the South, but his unit was drafted to portray Union federalists at the last minute. 🤪

A couple weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to get away for a couple days with my grandma, mama, and two of my aunts! Such a blessing!!! 💜 We perused the beach for shells and at night played the game ‘Taco, Goat, Cat, Cheese, Pizza’ (there were only two games provided in the house 🤣); all of us came away with some type of bruise. 🤣 We also had the Stone family famous shrimp ‘n grits for breakfast one morning! This trip was such a treasure!

These fellas had a heckuva start to their fishing tournament season this past Saturday. 😅 First, their typical boat captain was under the weather, so had to play switch-a-roo on boat *and* captain. Then, about 11am during the tournament the boat they were in broke down, leaving them only the section of the lake they could access with the trolling motor. Thankfully, a fellow team boat captain (and our church pastor!) was able to return his anglers to weigh-in, then make the run across the lake to snatch up these two fellas and get them to the dock in time for weigh-in. SHEW Y’ALL! 😅😵‍💫 They still managed 4 of the 5 fish limit with 10.04 lbs. 🙌
