White Oak, SC Wedding: Ashley + Jarrod

Couples | Engagement· Friends· Weddings

4 Jun

It seems only like yesterday (but was actually 3 or so years ago) that I was sitting on the porch with Jarrod’s mom after the opening day dove hunt replying, “No ma’am. I sure don’t have a sister.” Well, Jarrod met his match not long after that conversation; and, I’m pretty sure we could have been sisters 🙂

It’s another hometown romance– knew each other from around town, however, never dated until after most of their college days were over. And so now, Ashley, if only you can keep that fishing rod out of Jarrod’s hand, the fish out of the sink, and that cell phone off his ear (and my husband’s) long enough to check this out, know that your wedding was AmAzInG! We’re so lucky to have such wonderful friends, and we wish you both much happiness in your marriage! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Enjoy your sneak-peek!

What a gorgeous location and little church for a wedding!
Here comes the bride! Ashley, you are beautiful.
And Jarrod, ok, you were looking pretty snazzy too 🙂
All the men folk– who’s the hottie on the back row? The one of the right. lol
And… the classic ‘srike a random pose’ shot. Not sure if the guys completely understood me.

What a sweet capture from the sweet reception! For the viewers who were unable to make it, picture this: huge, white tent pitched on some of the family’s gorgeous property, shrimp-n-grits, one of the best bands ever (literally), lots of dancing, and the cattle off in the distance. Priceless!

Stay sweet! Love you guys.

Stay in the know!

We arrived in Montana Aug. 1 and re-connected with our friends, who were so gracious to host us while visiting. (Seriously, so blessed! 🙏) Jason met Seth back in 2005ish through work, when both couples lived in Tennessee, and hit it off instantly. We have remained friends through having families, and moving in different directions, and now our kiddos have been able to grow up knowing each other. Couples friends are hard to find in life and we don’t take that for granted!

The first adventure was a ride on the road up the mountain behind their house. Holy moly what a view, right in their backyard, basically! 😱

Our family is 21 years old today! 8/14/04 Thank you, Lord, for leading us to each other all those years ago as high school students. 🥹💜

We also recently finished a series of videos that I wish we would have had as newlyweds, so I want to share them with you today. So incredibly important as you walk through life in a marriage, because it’s downright HARD at times, but 100% worth it! 🙏

God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light…
If creation still obeys you, so will I!

We’ve been to Montana and back the last 11 days!!! I have saved a highlight if you haven’t been following along in my stories. 💜 We had the most wonderful time as always visiting the best of friends and the wilds of a land that has forever captured our hearts! (For those new around here, we had the pleasure of living in Montana twice now- 2017 and 2019- for 4 months each time.) I have about 3k photos to sort through, between 3 different cameras (😆), so be prepared for a photo dump. We made it home last night at 2am, then dove right back into our first day of school (and homeschool community day) at 8:30am this morning. 😮‍💨The jet lag is real.

16.

Sixteen years of being this amazing child’s mother. I can’t believe we are here. Today he wanted to spend his day eating barbecue and scouring graveyards for confederate graves. 😳 (I have never?! 🤣) But that’s our Gus! He’s easy-going, tender-hearted, and doesn’t hurry for anything. He loves old, classic country and rock music, and prefers to listen to them from CASSETTE TAPES. 🫠 He loves old soda bottles- the Mountain Dew bottle (from EBay) with his name on it was his only birthday gift request. 🥹 He wants an old truck one day. His favorite shows are Andy Griffith and The Beverly Hillbillies. His biggest desire right now is to be a part of a civil war reenactment because history is his absolute favorite! As a friend said, “he’s a million years old at heart”, and he is helping me appreciate things in life I would typically have just blown right past! SO thankful God has afforded us the privilege of being a part of raising this young man. 🙏

I have never, until today during our Latin translations, even WONDERED what ‘alma mater’ means, or the origin of the words. Have you?? It means ‘nurturing mother’ in Latin, which makes so much sense now. 🥴 Why are we conditioned to refer to state institutions as our nurturing mother? 🧐
